چکیده
Groupers (Family Epinephelidae) are commonly caught in data-poor small-scale multi-species fisheries for sale on both export and domestic markets. This study presents data the species composition size/life-stage structure of Epinephelus spp. groupers by fishers sold locally Indonesian province South Sulawesi. Data were collected from fishing ports local markets at 12 sites representing three seaways around Sulawesi (Makassar Strait, Flores Sea, Gulf Bone). Each specimen (n = 3,398) was photographed alongside an object known length, total length (TL) obtained using Rapid Scaling Object (RASIO). Of 23 identified, four (Epinephelus areolatus, ongus, quoyanus, fasciatus) collectively comprised 69% catch, while 13 least abundant contributed less than 5%. The catch dominated (67%) subadult life-stage, with just under 20% adult class. Juveniles fuscoguttatus, a valuable commodity. Observations early maturity as well sizeable gap between first capture (Lc) (Lm) indicate recruitment overfishing most species, notable exception rivulatus. proportion fish low (≈5%–30%) twelve (E. E. fasciatus, coioides, faveatus, sexfasciatus, maculatus, bleekeri, corallicola, polyphekadion). For two moderately faveatus malabaricus), TL < Lm all specimens. limited available spawning ratio is lower reported deep-water areolatus coioides. results call targeted research to fill knowledge gaps regarding biology ecology exploited mainly markets; highlight need species-level inform management policies such minimum legal size regulations; can contribute towards status assessments.

Current Mercury Exposure from Artisanal and Small-Scale Gold Mining in Bombana, Southeast Sulawesi, Indonesia—Future Significant Health Risks
The rapid expansion of the artisanal and small-scale gold mining (ASGM) industry in developing countries has marginalized the local communities in poverty, and resulted in occupational exposure to mercury via the gold extraction process. We investigated the mercury exposure of the mining workers lived inside and outside the mining area. Based on the occupations of the contributors, the hair sam...
متن کاملMalaria in North Sulawesi, Indonesia
The incidence and impact of malaria in North Sulawesi have declined both in the short term during the 1990s, and over a much longer timespan (though perhaps less continuously) since the end of the colonial period. The improvement already seems to have been well underway before deliberate vector control activities became extensive in the second half of the 1970s, and environmental changes affect...

RAPD and barcode analyses of groupers of the genus Epinephelus.
The diversity of Epinephelus species was investigated throughout Thailand. Random amplified polymorphic DNA successfully produced 1300 bands that were phylogenetically informative and used to construct cladograms. Values of pairwise genetic similarity (S) within species ranged from 0.65 in E. erythrurus to 0.99 in E. malabaricus. The interspecific values of S ranged from 0.23 between E. malabar...
متن کاملSyphacia (Syphacia) maxomyos sp. n. (Nematoda: Oxyuridae) from Maxomys spp. (Rodentia: Muridae) from Sulawesi and Sumatra, Indonesia
The present report describes Syphacia (Syphacia) maxomyos sp. n. (Nematoda: Oxyuridae) from two species of spiny rats, Maxomys musschenbroekii from Sulawesi and M. whiteheadi from Sumatra. It is characterized by a cephalic plate extending laterally with dorsoventral constriction and stumpy eggs with an operculum rim reaching pole. It is readily distinguishable by the former feature from all of ...
